The Job
Served on the executive board of Loyd Commons during the 2014-2015 school year
  • Position Title: Director of Student Well-Being
  • 10-15 hours per week
  • Attended executive board meetings once a week, and held and ran an additional weekly meeting for my personal committee of 4-5 other students

As a result of my high quality of work on Commons Council, in addition to other interactions with people in the Loyd Commons community, I was awarded the Loyd Commons Award for Purpose, an award that is given out to only one recipient, only once a year. ​

Awards

My committee also received an award for Regional Organization of the Month for the month of August 2014 by the National Association of College and University Residence Halls for our work during the first month of school when we created the first intramural sports teams for Loyd Commons. Hall Improvement

Was in charge of gaining hall improvement funding from SMU to purchase items that would improve the Loyd community. My committee and I were able to successfully gain funding for and install whiteboards in all the study spaces in the building, and TVs in all of the social lounges on each floor of the building. 

Created a Game Room

Led the project to create a game room in the first floor of the Loyd Commons building and secured a full sized pool table, foosball table, and arcade  style basketball game for the space.
